As an entrepreneur struggling to build my business while working a full-time corporate job, balancing family obligations, travel, health, and personal enjoyment from life, I could see the value that coaching could offer to help me overcome my fears and limiting beliefs. But having the courage to leave the security of a steady paycheck was only the beginning.
Entrepreneurs often go through stages of transition. Each stage comes with associated emotions, some of which can impede business progress and personal satisfaction.
In the beginning, there is often anticipation as the entrepreneur begins to loath the status quo and enters the Curiosity stage of what life could look like by focusing on their business full-time. This anticipation often builds up and eventually thrusts the entrepreneur to make the jump.
In the Honeymoon stage, there is excitement for both the courage to make such a bold move and the freedom to finally implement business plans will unrestricted energy.
Now as the excitement begins to wane, and challenges mount it is common to question the decision and become fearful whether this was such a good idea. In the Doubt stage, the entrepreneur is plagued with limiting beliefs. This is the most challenging stage that some do not survive!
A Transition Coach is especially helpful at this stage to help the entrepreneur (client) turn the corner and work through these limiting beliefs and obstacles. In the Envisioning stage, the coach leverages out of the box thinking in a safe and non-judgmental environment to help the entrepreneur restore hope and move past blockers in a collaborative fashion.
In the Validating stage, ideas are tested, and results evaluated often bringing renewed enthusiasm. As the entrepreneur continues to challenge his limiting beliefs and find creative solutions things begin to fall into place.
Finally, in the Synthesis stage there is a level of stability and normalization that offers joy and peace. This is not to be confused with reaching a final destination or pinnacle of success.
Often entrepreneurs go through multiple cycles of doubt, envisioning, and validation before reaching synthesis. This is why the strong partnership and alliance between coach and client is so powerful.
Having a coach will help you through the transition as well as your journey to achieve your business and personal performance goals.
